We’ve been trying to get D to use more functional language instead of the code we’ve become accustomed to.
“Try snack” means I want a cheese stick.
And while that works for our family, it doesn’t help D out in the world where someone would have no idea what that meant.
This morning he wants to watch a certain show on TV.
He says “Try numbers.”
I say, “You want to watch TV. Say ‘I want to watch TV, please.’”
He whispers “Watch TV, please.”
I say, “I want to watch TV, please.”
He whispers, “Want to watch TV, please.”
I say, “D say ‘I want. I want to watch TV, please. Say the ‘I’.”
He whispers “I”
I say “I…want to watch TV, please.”
He whispers “I….love you.”
And guess who is watching TV.
